validity of b1 with h4 visa

Hi,
I would like to know whether we can travel on b1 without using h1 ,if both the visas are present in the passport. It is for the immigration officer at port of entry to decide or we can choose the type of visa we are using in that particular trip?Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

---- Yes, you can travel with both the visas in your Passport. At the POE you delcare your intentions of entering on B1 or H1. Accordingly you can be given the I-94
