want to keep h1 status after quitting status

Hi,
I am currently on an H1.
i plan to leave my current job and go to india for a year just to take a break and look at other creative opportunities.
However i need to keep the opportunity to come back here within 18 months.

What would you suggest as the best possible way to keep my H1 , so tht i can have the flexibility to eneter the US ?

Secondly, would it make more sense to transfer to a B1/B2 ?

You cannot transfer to B1/B2 for 18 months.
Your new employer can file a cap exempt petition and claim unused period from your previous H1. After 18 months, a new petition for fresh 6 years can also be filed.
