I797 A and I94 validity expiring

Hi,

I have a strange situation where my H1B work permit(I797A )is expiring on may 25th and also I 94 on the same day. I have applied for extension and received one which strangely has got validity date from 6th June to 30th September. My question is what will happen to my status from May 25th to June 6th? can I stay in this country and can I work in that period?
