H1 to H4 conversion

Hello,
My spouse is currrently in H1 Visa working for a company. Due to personal reasons, I wish to convert her H1 to H4. I have the following questions

1. How long will it take to convert from h1 to h4?
2. Will I receive any receipt notice? if so, Is she eligible to stay in US upon the reciept of it?
3. Will it be a problem if her current employer cancels her h1 visa once she resigns and prior to the receipt of h4 approval?

Takes about 2-3 months, but varies.
She can stay after receiving receipt notice but application has to be received before she is laid off or she resigns. She has to show paystubs till the date of application receipt.
