  • OPT and H1B new application

I am currenlty on OPT which will expire on July 6, 2009. My H1B application was filed on May 14, 2009. If I do not get H1B approval by July 6, 2009; can I still continue to work until I get notive from USCIS either way? It is a new H1B application. I am exempt under H1B cap.

    Thanks
    Elizabeth

You can work past July 6, 2009 only if you have already received the H1-B receipt by then.

Can you please explain to me what is an H1B receipt? Is it the approval or just the notice with the tracking number?

Receipt is a receipt that USCIS received your application. That is not an approval.
