H4 to F1 with approved I140

Hi,

My spouse is on H1 with approved I140 for Green Card. My name is there on I140.

I have an H4 visa. Now I will be joining college this fall. I want to change my visa from H4 to F1. Will it be a problem?

I want to state the reason for change of status as - to be able to work part time during my study.

You can try, but immigrant intent disqualifies you for F1.
