H4 visa expired

Hi,

My friend is in H1 along with his wife who is on a H4 visa, His wife's visa expired along with the I94 last week. My friend's H1 status is still active, does he needs to do anything for his wife visa status? is his wife's stay in US legal or is she supposed to leave US.

---- If the H4 petition carries a I-94 that is valid, then the H4 visa has no meaning. If the I-94 has expired then she may have to leave the US, get a fresh visa stamp and then enter US with a newI-94 at the POE
