H1B Extension - Client Letter

Hi,

I work for a consulting firm.
I have applied for H1 extension from the same firm.
At the time of applying for H1 extension i was working at client place.
Now I got laid off from the client.
Now I got RFE from USCIS saying that they need a letter from client's place who supervises my work.

Can somebody help me out what should i do now?

I need to answer the query by july 20th.
If i get the job by that time i will be fine.
what should i do if i don't get he job

If you are not working now, you are already out of status. If you dont start working until July 20th, then you are in trouble also. There is no way out here, they have started strictly enforcing the rules now. H1 is a work visa, without work you fall out of status and there is no basis of extension.
