COS to H4, what happens to H1 6 year clock

Hi,

My H1 was denied 4 days back and I am thinking of converting to H4. My questions are

1) Would this be a flag for denial. My wife has a good job and her H1 is valid till September 2010. I am also planning to go to India in a week and get it stamped there

2) As of now I am out of status. Is my H1 clock towards 6 years still ticking. Also if I convert to H4, would the clock be still ticking or would it start once I reconvert from H4 to H1?

Please help as I would really like to know the answers.

Only time you held H1 status counts towards the 6 years. You need to leave ASAP and not accumulate out of status period.
