My friend lost his job on 1st May. And to maintain a valid status he applied for a b2 visitor visa the same day.

His visa got approved on 17th july for a duration of 6 months. The question he has is - Is the visa duration from 1st May - 1st Nov or is it from 17th July - 17th Jan?

Thanks for your reply. He came to know abt change of status today only online. He hasnt gotten back his papers yet.

Can you tell me if it starts from the day you applied or from the day you received?
