Query on H1 B Stamping

The query is regarding H1 stamping, I have received all the relevant papers. My new employer gate me Joining letter of 1st August, The stamping got delayed as I wanted to do stamping for my dependents together with the same joining letter?
Pls help thanks in advance.

My question is can I take appointment for Visa stamping in Mumbai next week which will be after 1st Aug 2009 won't that be an issue ? When the joining date mentioned is 1st Aug .
Or should I ask the US employer to send a new one this may get delayed.
