How late can one apply for GC?

Hi,

My husband has 2 and half years before his H1B visa expires.How late can we apply for a green card? can we wait till the last one year in order to initiate the GC process?

You should have applied at least 1 year prior to your visa expiration. That way if your labor was still under processing by the end of your visa period, you can apply for the 7th year extension.
