  • H1 B Stamping issue? Plz help..

    Hello All,

I am currently in India. I have an H1B visa approval from an employer which is valid from May 2009 to March 2011. I have a good job offer here in India. I am not sure whether to pursue the opportunity in the US through my valid H1B petition. In the event I do not like my India based job or the work environment, what is the maximum time after I get my visa stamp in India on the H1 approval, can I come to the US for employment?
Will I be questioned at the port of entry by the immigration officer if I enter the US say six months after my visa is stamped?
Is there a time limit after the visa stamp that I can enter the US?

I plan to get my visa stamped within a couple of weeks.
Also, since my petition is valid from May 2009, will the visa offcier at the consulate in India question me as to why it took me schedule an appointment for the visa stamping? Doesn't that make the visa stamping excercise a little risky?
Thank you in advance for your opinions. Your valuable opinions shall help me decide whether or not to get my visa stamped here. I appreciate all the help.

    >>> Anytime before your visa expires.

    >>> No. Make sure you have the proper documents related to your project. As long as you have a valid project and can give genuine answers to the question, you are good.

    >>> No. Don't worry too much about these. As long as the company records are good and you have a valid project and the certificates (degree and employement) that you provide are good, you have better chances of getting the visa.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
