  • Is it right time for H1B transfer??

    Hi

Working FULLTIME for a big consulting company.
Planning to start career as a consultant by transfering to a small company.
I hope to make 30% more money with new job.

Is it good time for H1b transfer?
I mean my h1b transfer will be approved?

    Please advise.

No person can predict the success for transfer of H1. If in doubt, get PP and then resign. Remember, you will lose your peace with small time companies as everything will become a struggle right from them giving your paperwork, pay to visa/GC.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

        H1 and port of entry

        Hi

No idea where to ask this, so asking here.

I got my H1 stamped in India in May2008..it is valid till sep2010. I have not entered US at all, bcos I got some job in UK and was working there. Now i wanted to come to US, but i have few queries abt immigration

        1) Will there be a question like why I didnt come to US immediately after stamping?? If yes, how to manage that.

        2) Is there a specific port of entry during the first time (like..employer location, etc..) OR can I enter in any part of the US.

        3) I still dont have a US job, but face-to-face interviews might be scheduled thru some consultancy who will provide a H1 transfer...is that legal to do so BEFORE entering the US?

        Kindly help!!

          >>>>>> There will be no such question.

          2) Is there a specific port of entry during the first time (like..employer location, etc..) OR can I enter in any part of the US.

          >>>>>> Anywhere is fine. If asked, you should have a proper reason to justify.

          3) I still don't have a US job, but face-to-face interviews might be scheduled thru some consultancy who will provide a H1 transfer...is that legal to do so BEFORE entering the US?

          >>>>>> No. Travelling without a project in hand is not advisable. You cannot travel in H1B to give interviews. They might ask you about the project details and the client letter at the POE. Do not enter in your H1b if your employer doesn't have a project for you. Your employer will have to pay you from day 1 you arrive in U.S on H1B. If not, you will go out of status.
