H1B Approved but only 1 yr validity

Hi

I work from Company A and was in US for 2.5 yrs in L1. Company B applied H1when I was in India and it got approved (I-797B) but only 1 yr validity. Is this normal ?

Also in petition the consultate details was not mentioned so I guess the employer has to file I-824 rite ?

Usually, H1 would initially be valid for 3 years.
Consulate details are not given in the petition. You can go to nearest consulate for visa stamping.

The petition validity is based on the LCA submitted, the contract dates with clients if any and the project duration. You can extend it again once it nears expiration.

Though H1 used to be for 3 years.
It appears they are approving only 1 year H1s this year.

I read about it on several immgration websites and lawyers blogs, ut cannot post he links here as the admin does not allow it.
