  • H1B and MTR denied, appeal is filed

I had to do H1 transfer because my previous employer laid me off. Fortunately I got the project and started working for another employer who filed me transfer. Over there, case was handled by the immigration department of my company. Once the MTR got denied saying client's information is not provided, looks like they might not have sent proper documents to USCIS. Then they hired a lawyer for my case, an appeal has been filed and status says my case has been sent to the Administrative Appeal Office for further review. I heard it may take years for appeals to be answered, is that true? Other questions:

    1. Am I in legal status?
    2. Can I still work with my current client?
    3. Can I go back to my previous company, if they've not already sent my H1 cancellation notice to USCIS?
    4. Can I apply for H1 transfer with some other company? Isn't it too late for that?
    5. Can I apply for new H1 with some other company?
    6. Considering my current situation, can I go out of USA and come back?
    7. What are the other options, if any.

    Any help is appreciated!
