  • h1b document sent to embassy by Employer

MY employer has sent some confidential documents directly to Us Embassy DELHI, which they can't send to me directly. Will US embassy consider these document when I will go for interview ?

  • #2
Yes. Most of the companies will not hand over their W2's to their employees. They will send it directly to the consulate.

Depends..The VO may ask for it again as the mail sent to the embassy may have to go through several channels and it is difficult to categorize it and identify that it belongs to you.

It is better if the company can send you a sealed copy saying to be opened by the VO. However, as sealed envelops are not allowed, the security guard will open it prior to entering.

h1b document sent to embassy by Employer

So you mean to say...If document are not processed at the time of interview by embassy, they will deny my H1b and will ask to send all document again. Can I show them some proof, that documents are already there in the embassy. This proof can be the ref no of courier and delivery notice of Fed Ex pack to embassy.

Consulates have tons of documents and it will be hard for them to sift and find your document especially during the 5 minutes they have for your interview. Worst case scenario would be a 221g.

            Answer these questions.

Do you work for a small company?
            If this Public listed?
            How many people are employed?
If this in the business of supplying consultants to clients?
Do they operate from a small office with many employees placed in client sites?

Successful h1b stamping at Delhi consulate Nov 18, 2009

Good news...I have got my h1b approved. Here is my detailed experience :

My interview was scheduled on 18 Nov at 9 am. I reached the embassy at 8.00 am. The security guard asked me to join the queue 30 mins before the interview. In the mean time I took a cup of tea outside the embassy.

I joined the queue at 8:30 am. The guards asked to submit all the electronics gadgets to window no 5. I rushed to the window (there was small queue over there) and submitted all the gadgets.

I joined the main queue again and they checked my interview letter and proceeded into the main hall. There a guy asked me to take seat. He came to me and asked for I797. He stapled it with my passport. Then he guided me to take the token no from lady standing over there. I waited for 15 mins, my turn came. After the finger prints I have to wait for 1 hour to get to the interview. Here are the interview questions :

              Me : Good Morning.
VO : Good Morning. May I have your passport (which was having I797 already stapled) and application.
Me : Sure...I handed it over to VO
VO : looked at the application, passport and I797. Kept on looking it for 15-20 seconds. Then came the following question.
              What is your highest qualification
Me : Master in Computer Applications (MCA).
VO :When did you go to USA last time ?
Me : I answered him appropriately (Actually I was in USA last year on B1)
Vo : for How long ?
Me : Answered the exact number of days.
VO : How do u come to know about EMPLOYER_NAME ?
Me : I answered him appropriately
VO : How many employees are there in EMPLOYER_NAME ?
              Me : YYYY numbers.
VO : How much Salary if offered to you ?
              Me : $ YYYY X.
VO : What are you going to do for EMPLOYER_NAME ?
Me : Elaborated him in details.
VO : You h1b application is approved. He kept the Passport and I797 with him.
Me : Thank you very much. Sir, Won't I get the I797 back ?
VO : This will accompany with your passport.
              Me : Ok
VO :Best of Luck in USA
ME : Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

This was my interview and it lasted hardly 3-4 mins. VO didn't checked any of my document.

              I hope this will help.
