I want to know if this a sign of a problem
I am a jamaica citizen. had interview on November 10th was approved for H1b
was told it will be sent by courier in 4 dyas. have not heard anything. what is the maximum delay in receiving passport

What is VFS. I got a DHL receipt and they are supposed to deliver to my local addres in jamaica. i call them twice daily and they say the embassy has not sent the passport to them as yet. it is 6 days today since interview. Am I to worry?

VFS -> Visa Facilitation Services. There should be a helpdesk in the embassy where you attended the visa interview. If you call them, they should be able to help you. 6 days is not a matter of concern.

I got an email from the US embassy in Kingston saying that I needed more documents; job letter and a CV. Told to appear tomorrow to drop them off. These was already submitted at the time of the petition and I got !-797A approval prior to departing USA.

Why repeat request for docs. I am a chem engineer. Could this put me in the TAL list and cause delays.
Strange that the initial interview went smoothly and I was told I was approved and now all these new requests.

Santosh1955, unfortunately all you can do is submit the documents and wait.

I gave in the additional documents and I was told that will do further processing. There is no indication of how long it will take. I did not get any receipts/paper slips or my passport back. How long can the US embassy legally keep your passport? Thanks.

They can give it back to you if you request it for some other purpose. But if visa is approved, you will have to submit the passport again.

Thanks for you info. I was wondering if by keeping my passport it is a "good" sign that I may be getting a visa; as opposed to if they had returned it to me
right away based on other persons in other forums.
