Work During H1-B Extension

Currently my H1-B extension process is going on. My question is can I keep working between the time I receive the receipt for the extension application that is submitted and approval of the extension. In the meanwhile my current H1-B visa would have expired?

If you applied for extension before the expiration of previous H1 status, you can continue to work.
