H1B Transfer cum Extension - Senior plz reply

My Application is accepted for transfer cum extension and I-129 is mailed on Jan,5,2008 and Till now i did not hear anything about I797. My visa expired by Sep,2009. Do i have any time limit to stay in usa? and whether it is mandatory i need to call them to know the status? Please reply me.

It usually takes only 2 -3 months to get the approval by normal process and just 15 days by premium process. Check your case status online or Check with your employer / company attorney. Has your I-94 already expired? If yes, then your presence in the country is illegal and it will cause you issues later.
