US drivers license - H1 extension

Hi,

Can US driving license(DMV) be applied when the H1 extension is with USCIS?Whether the extension receipt would be ok for the driving test?

Probably not, you will have to wait for the approval. Is your previous I-94 valid? They may give DL with expiry up to that date.

Hi,

There were some states before like California etc which used to give temporary license on the basis of the extension receipt number.

But now I think to standardize the process and for security -all states or atleast all states requires the Approval notice in original for the driving license renewal

when I was on H1B my first license was only for 1year upto my DOB, after that on Same I797 I renew my DL upto 6years (issued by DMV California bydefault).
