H1 to H4

Hi,

I'm currently working on H1 B.My assignment ends on Feb 28th.I want to transfer my visa to H4 after that.

I wanted to know when can I intiate the COS process.Is it after Feb 28th or before that?

Can I stay for 1 month or so in H1 without job?

You need to apply for COS to H4 before the last day of your job. You cannot stay in H1B without a job. You will go out of status and then a COS to H4 won't be possible.

I have been working on L2 visa. My spouse's H1B and consequently my H4, approved effective this January 1st, and intimation received by us on January 4th. My spouse joined new job on Jan.11 (as H1B) and I quit the job on Jan.22nd. Are the time lines ok?

You are not eligible to work from Jan 5th as you were moved to H4.
