I've done a significant amount of research but can't find a response to my specific query. My employer brought me over on an L1B visa in February of this year and immediately informed me that they would be filing an H1B cap subject petition for me (not as a CoS - though I think this may have just been a miss on their part). My petition has been selected in the lottery and I'm fully aware of the benefits of the H1B for me (i.e. the employee) - reasonable job flexibility, 6 yr validity, possibility for green card extension etc. etc. My question is - what's in it for them? Why would they prefer that I'm on an H1B rather than an L1B (especially given that there were no timing constraints and my L1B was only stamped in February of this year which has a 5 year validity)?
