  • Any gap to be maintained between consecutive L1 ?

    Hi experts,
Is there any time period/gap which needs to be maintained between each L1s ?
In 2007 I applied L1 visa and had been to USA. Later on I applied for L1 extension. But never appeared for L1 visa stamping based on extension petition.
This extension is still valid and expire in 3 months.
My employer feels, this 3 months validity is not sufficient enough, so planing to file new L1 for me soon.
My question is - Is there any minimum period of time, which needs to be maintained between two L1 applications ?

I have not changed my employer, I am still with same employer.

    I appreciate your help.

    For L1B, max is 5 years, and for L1A, it's 7 years.
After that you need to spend at least 1 year out of US.

H1 + L1 period can be 6 years in total.

      Hi sk4ih,
      Thanks for the reply.
My question is, Can I go for L1 immediately before my previous L1 extension expires or I need to wait for any specific period to file new L1 petition.

      Regards.

Extension can be filed 6 months in advance of the current petition expiry.
