Can I have both H1 and H4 status?

I'm currently in H1, but considering change to H4. I don't want to quit my job before get H4 approved. Considering I need to give at least two weeks notice for quitting the job, if I give the notice when H4 is approved, will I be working under H4 for two weeks? Is it OK?

Or a more general question: can I still work under H1 even my H4 is approved?

You can't work once h4 approved. That will be illegal. There should be only one status at a time.

Hard to predict. Usually within 2-3 months from applying.
