H1B VISA stamping i797 returned back along with 221g pink slip

After H1B visa interview officer took my passport, returned original i797 along with 221g pink slip. My case status shows as “administrative processing”. Do they usually return i797 after the interview when they issue 221g? What could be expected ? Does anyone experienced this …?

History:
I came to USA with B1/B2 then admitted to collage and changed status to F1 , then OPT then H1B.

My brother got 221G as well, its been 6 months and status is still "administrative processing". recently they requested to submit his passport but they did not stamp visa. I guess they took his pp for verification and returned back. We get standard responses from the helpdesk team when we call them. Looks like we just have to wait.. all the best.
