H1B can go on Leave withoput pay ?

Hi all ,

I am currently working with my employer on H1B and want to opt for leave without pay inorder to accompany my husband who's working at different location.

Will I have to apply for H4 or I can continue to be on H1B Till I find any other job and apply for H1 transfer ?

Please let me know you views on this.

When you are in H1B, you need to be working and getting paid. Otherwise you will go out of status. When you are out of status, transfer to a different employer or COS to H4 is not possible. So the best option for you is to apply a COS to H4.
