2-3 months by normal process and 15 days by premium. You cannot work until your status changes to H1B.

I have a question on this topic - Have a friend whose application was accidentally withdrawn ( H1B Extension & After RFE ) - His I94 expired and company rushed an extension again on the day of expiry - Which date is considered as applied for extension - The day of courier / day of receipt ? Company Fedexed it and receipt is yet to arrive -

        Thanks in advance !

USCIS should receive it by the date of expiration.
