I was charged with "Leaving the site of Accident" in Jan 2001, while I was on F1. I was arrested and fingerprinted by the police. The court fined me $1000 and 2 yrs probation but NO jail term. It was a misdemeneor charge. There was no bodily injuries involved, only property(car) damage.
I subsequently got my OPT and I-797 approval. I am to go to India for stamping soon but am really worried how the Consulate will view my case.
Is Canada/Mexico a better option then India, considering I would be given 221g - Administrative Processing.
ALso, if anyone is in same situation, pls post your response/experiences at the consulate.
