  • H1 and H4 stamping, together, language selection

    Hi-,
I am going to get married in one month. I am in usa at present.
I need to attend for H1b visa interview, along with my wife (My wife for H4 visa). But my wife does not speak english well. So she needs to take the interview in Telugu. We would like to attend the interview together.
What is the process for this situation? What language should i chose while applying for visa interview?
Should we attend interview seperately on different days/ or same day diff timings?

    Any help is greatly appreciated,..

    Thanks!

    You can go together.
No need for wife to speak if both going together. She is just dependent, not required to know English.

      Hi Ski4h,
Thanks for the reply. Do you know for sure, that we can go together and no need for her to speak english. I just want to make sure now then at the last moment. Sorry,..
So we both will be interviewed at the same time? If that is the case, the VO does not ask any questions (Not even one??) to my wife???

This is my first time going for H4 and H1. So little bit lost,.. Please guide me. I posted this question in many other forums but nobody replied,..

      Thanks again,...

You can take Telugu appointment for both and you can answer in English. You cannot do the opposite (English appointment and answer in Telugu).
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

            Hi OP,

This is just to clarify that if H1 and H4 going together then there is no need for H4 to speak (which is not always TRUE)....
It all depends on VO , if you speak on behalf of your wife , VO may ask you NO TO speak on behalf and she should ONLY speak

So , as suggested - first contact VFS helpdesk /write a mail to them and get the information.

            Thanks and Regards,
            Abhay

              Hey,
I called VFS helpline desk. What he said is as I am going to attend interview with my wife, I can schedule the interview in english, and if VO asks my wife any questions, I can transfer them to telugu for her,..

But I am still not 100% sure,.. It would be better if some one in this situation attended the interview before,..

Any way I will also try to send them an email,..

              Thanks

My wife had take regional language appointment and answered in English, so I know that one can do that. I will advise you to take Telugu appointment for both and you can answer in English.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

                  Hi-,
how is the interview with translator works? I mean the VO himslef knows telugu and asks questions in telugu or is there a translator other than VO?

Looks like scheduling the interview in telugu is the safest bet. But one of my friends said, if I schedule interview in telugu, VO officer will not approve my H1-B. I know on the day of interview VO can see that I can speak fluent english so that should not be problem, But my friend is scaring me,...

                  Thanks
