  • Travelling abroad...Immigration question

    Hi ,

Myself and my family are in india on vacations. MY H1B expiring in November and my extension is due on my return. My company lawyer updated me can travel and come back by august then they can proceed with extension on my return to US.

I am on my 6th year of H1B and my I-140 is approved. So likely will get extension of 3 years.

Looking to the market situation and lot off layoffs in US applied for UK Tier1 (UK work visa) immigration visa. I travel to UK and given interview and didnt find UK market is too good. I decided to return and continue with my current job and come next years as my UK visa is valid till 2013 with muliple entries to UK is allowed.

I travel to UK from India and return back to india now and will be returning to US on 15th August.

What will be my situation and how should reply to CBP (Immigration officer) if they ask me the question from where you are returning. I can simply answer that returning from vacation from India. But I travel in between to UK , Do I need wait for immigration officer to ask me , did you travel any other country during your vacation and what was the purpose or just say that I travel to India and UK on vacation. But in UK entered as job seeker on Tier1 (UK work visa).

I am not sure if they ask me this question. If Yes, Should I answer honestly that I visited there to see how is job market in UK if require in future can move to UK If I loose my job due to any unforseen reason.

    Or

Just by saying it is my backup visa if I loose the job I can go back to UK and to enter into is required to make the visa vaild to use in future.

I am not sure what should be the right answer if any case they ask me this questiona and what will be the impact on other country work visa when you are holding H1B.

    Looking for an early response.

    Please advise.

    Regards
    Jyoti

Your UK trip (for any reason) will not affect your US entry. Answer truthfully.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
