H4 to H1 visa transfer or stamping

I came to US in 2009 Jan on H4.After that my husband applied for the extension and approved .Now i am on my H4 extension I-94, not stamped at.
My H1B is approved in 2008.
Now i want to change the staus from H4 to H1.
What is the process?
Is it best to apply for the change of status or go for the H1B stamping?
what are the documents needed for the H1B stamping?

As i don't have a valid H4 visa, only valid petetion, will there be any problem at the border?
If my H1 gets denied, can i still come on my H4?

You need a valid visa to re-enter. When you leave the country, you will have to return your current I-94. If your H1B visa gets rejected, then you will need to apply and get an H4 visa.

As i don't have a valid H4 visa, only valid petetion, will there be any problem at the border?
