  • Regarding my HDFC Barcode for my H1 Visa

    Hi All,

I am planning for India trip and I have to get my H1 visa stamping in India. I have finished my DS-160 form and I also bought my HDFC bank Receipt on July 2nd.

Now the problem is that i have cancelled my appointment date twice and my HDFC Barcode has been deactivated today. It will be activated again on 03rd November (90 days from today) it seems. I am supposed to leave to India on 13th Aug.

I am ready to pay the VFS Visa Fee again at HDFC Bank. My question is can i get the new HDFC Receipt within such a short period (i mean last time i bought my HDFC Receipt was on July 2nd). and with this new barcode i can take the new visa appointment date. Will this work fine for me?

Please kindly advice the best way for me now.

      Thanks for your quick reply.

I am so sorry I am not clear with your reply though. So, do you mean if i get a new HDFC Receipt then I should be fine? Do you mean I wont be facing any issues with this work around?

If possible, give a call to the VFS helpdesk and explain your situation. Probably they might have some option for you to use the current hdfc receipt. If not, then you will need to get a new one. But there is no harm in giving it a try. Call VFS.

Yes you are correct. Its better to give a call to VFS helpline. I tried calling them but unfortunately it was not the office timings when i called them. So i have to wait till they open tomorrow morning.

So in order to get some more information and help meanwhile i have posted my question here. Anyways I will give them a call tomorrow morning their time.

              Thanks for your reply.

You don't 'buy' receipts, you pay the fees and get the fees receipt. You can pay fees as many times as you like.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

I am sorry. This might sound a silly question. But I would really be glad to know the answer asap.

I got my new HDFC Receipt on Friday morning. So can i use it from Sunday morning? By Sunday morning it would be 48 hrs. But I am not sure if it requires 48 working hours to get activated.

Can anyone please answer my question. When will I be able to use the barcode?

                        It should be possible.

Why don't you give a try and see if it works?
                        It's just 1 minute job, isn't it?

Thanks for taking your valuable time and giving me replies.

I was checking since sunday morning. I was worried if it would put me into trouble if I keep on checking the barcode before it gets activated. Thats the reason for posting my question.

Anyways it worked for me today morning and I got the date I wanted Aug 19th.

Thanks a lot for your help.

                            Hi All,

Do we require to post all our documents to the VFS consulate four working days prior to our visa interview date?

I am going to attend the Interview at HYDERABAD, India on 19th August.
I have entered US on F1 and now I am on H1 and going to India to get my H1 Visa stamping done.

My friends who are in the same situation like me went to Visa Interview @ HYD in the first week of July and they did not post any documnets prior to the Interview day.

Can anyone please clarify me on this. I will be leaving from US tomorrow.

                            Thanks for the help

The VFS and consulate website say that you need to submit docs for H and L visas.
They just started couple of months ago.
Hence they might have been not very particular about not submitting before, as is case with your friends.

It's up to you whether you want to go with website or your friends.
Call VFS Helpdesk for more info.
