Is H4 child eligible for dropbox, if Parent H1 has got an extension approval

Hi,

• Both Parent and kids stamped visa expired in June 2020.
• Parent H1 visa holder has received an extension approval till mid 2023. Kid's H4 extension is still in progress from past 8 months. Hoping to get it soon.
• So, if we make a visit from USA to India during this May 2021, Parent should be eligible for dropbox (less than 12 month period).
• Is kid also going to be eligible based on his visa expired in last 12 months and parent has a valid extension approval ? or should he have to attend visa interview.?

Please advise.
