Stamping only after Oct 1?

I got my H1 visa approved few days back. This is a fresh H1 applied in the FY2011 qouta. But my employer says I can go for stamping only on or after Oct1. I have never come across such a constraint so far. However have come across articles which say that the travel date could only preceed start date by 10 days. Also have read that visa stamping can commence 90 days in advance of start date. So that would be July 1 or later.. In that case I think I can book any available slot in Sep..Kindly confirm if there is any new rule in place which says stamping for fresh H1s only from Oct?

There is no such rule. You can get the H1B stamped if the petition is approved. However, you can travel only after 20th of September (10 days prior to the H1B effective date).
