  • Government officer in home country applying for H4 US visa

    Hello!
I have a government job in my home country. I am getting married to a person who is on H1 visa in USA, so i will be applying for H4. The problem is my passport has government officer written on it. Do i need to change it before applying for H4 or it won’t be a problem?

    Hi,
Just curious to know, So you will be continuing your Job in your home country right? If so, you dont have to change anything. Moreover, you will need to follow some certain regulations as you much know about requirements for government Employees abroad travel.
But, H4 visa will not impact in any way. Please make sure to carry all necessary documents when you go for visa stamping.
    Thanks.

      Hi, thanks for responding.
No, I won’t be continuing my job in my home country because i will be moving to US with my husband if my H4 gets approved.

          Hi,
I believe you will not have any issues.. But, I suggest you to check with Passport seva customer support to get more clarification.
But regarding H4 and GC filing, I don't find any issues since you will be as dependent category.
          Thanks
