Visa Appointment - Out of Juridiction

Hi,

I am native of Andhra Pradesh and planning to visit on vacation this december. Can I take the visa appointment at Chennai consulate for the visa stamping? Is it mandatory to go to Hyderabad consulate as per my residence state? Please share your ideas. Is there any problem to go to different consulate?

If you are returning H1B worker, then you can book the appointment at any U.S consulate.
