H1B: 2nd time 221g Blue form from Chennai

Hi there,

I received blue form 2nd time from Chennai couple of days back after dropping all my docs 1st time. They just returned my passport and the blue form but kept the original docs like I-797, 129 etc...with them.

My question here is, do we need to drop the asked docs or just wait for the embassy ppl to contact us? I read in a forum that, If we are given a blue form for administrative processing...we are supposed to wait until the embassy ppl would contact us. I just want to know wht to do next so that the case is not delayed any further.

Please do help me with this. Thanks.

---- Just comply with the request from the US Consulate and drop all the documents as listed by them. They will contact you after receiving the documents and reviewing them

---- I understand that this query was replied to in another forum and I had given almost a similar reply. May be the words were changed a little bit here and there. However, the message remains the same

Hi all,

I need help too.

I had my H1B interview on the 9th of September at 9AM.

I as asked the basic questions which I answered properly.

Though I had a file with al the petitioners documents in hand, he never asked and picked up a blue form n ticked some boxes. He gave it to me and told me to get all this frm the petitioner. I tool one quick look and told him that i have them all. He said to check properly n then come back anytime today.

i did not take more than a minute as I was damn sure that i had all the docs.
then i stood back in line and produced all the documents. he laughed and said " i guess ur company knows the process".

NOw he took my passport and all the documents and said " i dont have the time to check all the documents now, i shall keep ur passport and check the docs and send u the passport in 7 days or more"

NOw my question is, do you think I have made it. POint one is that all the documents are proper and not even one missing. Point two, Friday to Monday was a holiday, I checked the VFS website and i get the message " Your passport has not been recieved by VFS"

How much time do you think it takes to reach the VFS office.

Your inputs are highly appreciated. Damn tensed until i see the passport.

@Subramanya: Thanks for your reply. The Blue form that I received 2nd time is quite confusing...It says that my case needs AAP and they would contact me. But it also says that I can either drop the docs or hand over to VO directly on particular days. .

Blue Handout Cases: The Consular Officer would have given the applicant a blue handout seeking additional information or stating that further additional processing would be required. These cases do not fall within the category of cases which are listed on this website. In such cases the American Consulate, Chennai will get in touch with the applicant in due course as and when further action is required from the applicant. Specific instructions will be sent on a case by case basis. If your case falls within this category, PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT the Consulate regarding the status of your case.

It says that they would contact the applicant for further action. Do you think it's still a good idea to drop the docs even before they contact us? Thanks.

If you have submitted all the documents, then they would verify the documents and if everything is correct, they will send you the stamped passport back within a week to 10 days. If they need additional administrative processing, then it could take some time (Can't predict the admin processing time since each case if different). Wait patiently and if you don;t hear back from the consulate within 10 days, then send them an email or check with the VFS helpdesk.

And, please post your questions in a separate thread instead of at the top of someone else's post.

Received new 221g Blue 2nd time

Hi I have received 221g Blue form 2nd time with just my passport. My I797, LCA, 129 are all with the consulate. Nothing is selected on the sheet, its just written on the sheet that "RETURNING PASSPORT. NO FURTHER ACTION NEEDED AT THIS TIME".

I do not know what I should do. I m pretty confused. People please advice what I should do? Is there anything positive in this. Will they ask for my passport again if visa is approved.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes. Once admin procesisng is completed and if the visa is approved, then they will ask you to submit the passport for stamping.

when did you attend the visa interview , what documents did they ask to submit, and when did you submit the docuemtns, which consulate

my case:
attended interview 16th feb
submitted documents on 23rd feb at vfs hyd
received by chennai consulate on 25th feb
till now did not get any response

Hi I attended on feb 24 for the visa interview, and recieved 221 g blue slip and requested documents are mentioned.
submitted those documents on 9th march and recieved 221 g blue silp on 18th march returning your passport and no further action required at this time(my i797 form, labour documents, i 129 and other documents are with them) waiting for the status to be updated

I am also in the same boat, submitted all the docs on march 14th and passport returned ,with 221g on 21st March.

It is mentioned as "PASSPORT RETURNED AND NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED". Sent an email to NIV requesting for case status,they replied me as case under review, consukate will contact once it is completedand there is no time frame for this.

Is there any hope ofgetting the visa stamped.

Did u both get ay replies ,please let me know.

I send an email to Chennai NIV asking for status, it is still saying as administrative process is going ,once it is completed we will contact you.

221g blue - damaged passport

I appeared my L1B Visa interview on 14th Mar 2011 and when VO was checking the passport he noticed that the lamination was peeling off.

He gave me a 221g blue form marking damaged passport and asked us to submit the new passport along with the old one in VFS and also mentioned your VISA has been approved but u need to submit the new passport at VFS.

Struggled to get the new passport and finally submitted the new passport on 30th March at VFS hyderabad

When I check my NIV case status it showing me as no record found.

Sent couple of e-mails to consulate and received below replies

"We would like to inform you that your case continues to undergo processing. This processing is mandatory and cannot be expedited. While we understand your concern and probable frustration, we cannot speed things up. All nonimmigrant visa applications have to go through processing before visa issuance. Please wait for the processing to be completed."



"Not all case numbers are listed on our website.

Your new passport is required for the further processing of your non-immigrant visa case."


Still waiting for my VISA. I dont know how much time it will take.
