Is the timeline for a new EAD and EAD renewal the same?
My EAD expired in 2018. can I get it renewed or do I need a new application?
If it’s a renewal can I travel outside the US while the EAD processing is underway?

Is the timeline for a new EAD and EAD renewal the same?
Answer: Yes. Both the application processing time will be same.
My EAD expired in 2018. can I get it renewed or do I need a new application?
Answer: Each EAD Application will be considered only new application. It does not matter that you are going to extend EAD. When you file EAD ext petition also will consider as new application.
If it’s a renewal can I travel outside the US while the EAD processing is underway?
Answer: While EAD is getting adjudicated, If you are outside of USA then the petition may get deny. Please note, EAD can be filed and adjudicated while you are in the USA.

Thanks for all your responses. We haven’t filed for H4 thinking of consular processing on H1 approval notice. H4 EAD looks like would have to wait as spouse would be out of the country?
