    Hi,

I have to go to India for H1B visa stamping. Wait time in Hyderabad consulate is 250 days (????) Can I go to any consulate/dropbox in India for stamping? It was allowed earlier. Want to check if there is a rule change because of the IWP/dropbox.

    Appreciate your response.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mohana.

This post is in the wrong forum/thread. To answer your question, you can go to any consulate which is available to you at the time of booking the appointment slot. It just means that all those service centers/ consulate can process the type of visa you are applying for. Btw, the wait time is equally high in all other places as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. I realized that I posted in a wrong forum only after posting. I didn't know how to delete the post. Sorry for that. From what I see on US department of state website, wait times are quite low in other consulates. Not as crazy as in Hyderabad. For eg, Chennai is 71 days compared to Hyderabad with 250 days. Not very sure why Hyderabad is overloaded while other consulates are not as busy. That was why I had a doubt if dropbox appointments are region specific.

      Thanks!
