H1 - Surname Related

Hi,

Could someone explain the process if a person does not have a surname on the passport?
As of now only the given names is available in the passport and a visa has been applied and approved.
Can the first name be given as FNU or is there any process change in the recent past?

Does that mean we can go for stamping filling the Fname as FNU?
