L1B to H1B

I'm currently on L1B and have been in US for last 5yrs. Now if I switch to H1B visa joining some other company then will I need to go out of US in 1 yr as I'll complete 6yrs or I can stay for 6 yrs from the day I get H1B?

your L1 Stay is counted towards ur 6yrs.If u switch to H1 now, you will have just one year to stay to stay in usa. Either you have to get greencard in one year or file ur 7th yr extension if possible.
If ur out of 1yr usa, then u will get back 6 yrs, for this you may have to contact CP or ur new employer
