  • H1b Lottery Selected, but got a better offer

    Hello,

I am currently on an F1 visa, graduating in May 2022. I accepted a job offer previously, and that company (huge US Bank, let's call them A) applied for my H1b which was luckily picked in the lottery.

Recently, I received a job offer from a very large Wealth Management / FinTech firm (let's call them B). The work is much better, the salary is somewhat higher, but obviously if I take this offer I would have to forego the other company's H1b that omegle was picked in the lottery.

I am planning to work for a couple of years and then do a Master's in the US itself. So I could technically just give up the H1b and then work on OPT even if I don't get selected in the H1b lottery files by employer B and then do the Master's. I don't think telling company B to "wait" for a year or a few months is an option.

What would y'all recommend doing? Thank you!

You've got three options. I'd go with the first one, but that's just my sense of propriety.

    1. Go to work for A, after all the effort they put in to getting you this far.
    2. Work for B on OPT for one year and return to full time studies under a new F1 in fall of 2023.
    3. Cancel the current application and hope to win again with B's application.
    4. Go to work for A and then further screw them by jumping ship to B. You have to get a new H1B there, but you won't have to worry about the cap.
