  • H1B: Stamping after extension

    Hi All,

I am in the US for past 2+ years and recently in September I had my visa extension. I got a new I797 with a validity till 2013.

However since then I haven't visited India so I know for sure as and when I do I need to attend the embassy interview for stamping.

I am planning to visit India in February and I am worried as there is a news around that people are getting Visas rejected or being asked for more information (221g slips/pink/blue).

I would like to know if or not the above news is true or not? Do you think it is a good idea to visit India for stamping during such time.

Any insights or information sharing in this regard is highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    -NM

---- YES, all the information is true and correct. If you want a visa stamp on your Passport, you will have to go to a US Consulate, attend the visa interview and get the stamp. This will have to be done one day or the other, unless you plan to continue stay in the US for a long period of time or you get a green card (if you have already applied for one)

e---- These rejections and other colored slips are a common occurence for many people. Hope that you do not receive one despite your best efforts and good intentions

---- If you do receive a colored slip respond to that appropriately and hope it gets cleared quick enopugh for you to get the visa stamp on your Passport and return to the US
