H4 to H1B status change within USA

HI,
I have received my approved i797A notice last week went to SSN office to apply for a SSN no.
They have not accepted the documents since I 94 was showing H4 and on my passport Visa stamping status was H4.Please help me if some one came across the same case.

The I-797A contains a new I-94 as part of the page. This supersedes any other I-94s that you may have gotten before. And visa has nothing to do with your current status.
