Laid off while H1B transfer in process - Help!

Hi everyone. I was unfortunately impacted by layoffs at my firm. However, a week or so back I had accepted an offer with another company and kick started my H1B transfer process. My questions are: https://nox.tips/ https://xender.vip/

a) am I out of status? My understanding is that H1B transfers only happen from employer to employer so you have to maintain employment for the entire duration of the transfer?

b) do I need to let my new employer know? Will they need to refile and do things differently?

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
