Hello Everyone

My attorney had applied for my extension of H1b last month around october 8th and the processing centre is california servicing centre and in regular processing. But we have not received the receipt number yet.. Has any one had applied for the extension and could you Please let me know how long it takes for the receipt number and the average processing time. I did checked int eh web site it say 4 months..

It will take 2 weeks or less to get the receipt number in normal cases. In rare cases, it will take more time.

The normal processing time is 2-3 months.

If the check has been cashed, the bank will have an image of the check. On the backside they sometime write the receipt number.

The receipt numbers are no longer on the back side of the check. This was the case on a recent filing.

FYI... Finally got the receipt back today(11/18) for H1B extension filed on oct 8.. it just took a long time..

Just checking to see if anyone who applied for H1 extension around October 2010 through regular processing in the california service center got approved.I did applied on Oct 8 and got my receipt at No 18. I looked at the processing times in the website , it says 2 months. I am just trying to check with others. I know the case differs from one to other. My attorney said he will check with CIS next week . When the real processing time starts is the receipt date or the date we mailed the application. Is there any kind of lite status we can check to see if they have started looking into my application. The status page says its in initial review. Please let me know

DOS codes

I am about to start my application for H1 B. I am on my OPT right now and my employer has recently agreed to file my H1 B. My job description is very unique and I am looking for the DOS codes for employment. Where will I find those?? Also, can you describe the in depth details as to how this process works? Novice as I might sound, your help is appreciated! The clock is ticking and I am a bundle of nerves. Thank you!!

In your best interest, hire an attorney for H1b filing. The OES code is from DOL and they can look it up based on your experience, education etc to something that matches your job.

Finally got my extension approved yesterday, exactly it took 2 months from the receipt date...
