Academic Credentials Evaluation

Hi,

I want to get my academic credentials done here in the US. When my company did it when they applied for H1, the credentials came out to be equivalent to BBA - I had my PG Diploma in Management from one of the IIMs. I was wondering if I need to go for a re-evaluation to see if it can be equated to MBA.

Any directions here will be greatly appreciated.

---- Your hunger will increase if the diploma is evaluated to a masters so that you can seek even a higher degree

---- Be content with what you've got and if you do find an agency that evaluates your diploma to a higher degree even better than masters then I would doubt the credentials of that agency

---- All this may be nothing wrong and cannot be questioned but at least you should earn the credentials yourself instead of relying on external agencies that evaluate your certificates to a higher degree

I'm surprised this is coming from a supposedly senior member of this forum:

In India, only universities can give out masters degrees, whereas even "premier" institutes like IIMs can hand out only "diplomas". You seem to confuse this "diploma" with a "diploma from an ITI" - I should be greatful that a 'mere diploma' is evaluated to be a highly "bachelor's degree", great help, you were.

Furthermore, you may not be aware that foreign academic degrees have to be independenly evaluated by an "external" agency to be accepted by USCIS.

I got scanned copy of my Academic Evaluation report today. Please confirm that scan copy is sufficient to file the H1B case with USICS or original report needed?

Manoj - I bet the senior member has absolutely no idea what an IIM is or what it does/how it works or may be has no idea about premier institutes in India. I mean I laughed so hard reading his reply. You must definitely re-evaluate as I believe your degree is if not better than MBA,

My company's attorneys usually ask only for a scanned copy of everything. One of my friends had to submit the original only when they wanted to verify the originality of documents

***Sir Do you know about IIMs at all? Indian Institute of Management they are the premier Institutes in India and actually may qualify to have toughest entrance process in India and right up therer in world wide B-Schools.

***Sir I am sorry to see the lack of total understanding and the under valuation of a diploma. It literally depicts lack of awareness. If you are "aware" millions of qualified personnel(in many aspects like Engineering/Technolgy/Services) in the US are diploma holders.

***Depends if yours is not from an IIM or similar reputed premier institure it wont qualify. Again correlation without making sense or understanding the core matter.

my "lowly diploma " has been accepted as equivalent to a Masters program

hi kmanoj32 . I am facing a similar situation. My 2 year full-time PGDM in Finance from India is shown as US Bachelor's equivalent for PERM processing by my employers immigration firm. They are saying this is as per EDGE database. Can you please help how did you get your PGDM to be correctly evaluated as US Masters degree equivalent.
