  • Entry Level Analyst with Master's

    Hi All,

My wife has a US master's in Finance and got a job as a entry level finance analyst with a 49K Salary....is that a good enough to apply H1B. Currently she's working on OPT.

Can a master's quota H1 get approved with 49K salary?

    Thanks.

First, the position must qualify for the classification. See the Occupational Outlook Handbook online. What qualifications does the job require?

Then, the beneficiary has to qualify for the position as described in the LCA.

The key factor in the Master's cap, of course, iS the Master's Degree, is it actually needed for the job?

hi bigjoe - the job posting said they need an MBA in Finance and that the salary will be 49K...so the job does match with the qualification....I was just worried that 49K is a bit lower for an entry level MBA....will that cause any issues with H1-B application.

        That is not correct.
In order to qualify for Master's cap, the beneficiary only has to have the US Master's degree, the job does not have to require it.
For H1 the job must require a Bachelor's degree though in any case.
Since both Master's and normal cap are open, it does not matter.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

hi kabkaba - have you heard any issues with H1b being rejected with 49K salary as a financial analyst? (As per FLCdatacenter, 47K is for Level 1 bit it mentions bachelor degree)
