  • EAD under Compelling Circumstances

All- sad to share that I was impacted in the last round of lay-offs. I am currently on H1B visa with an approved i140.
To make it easy for a new employer to hire me, I have been looking for ways so that someone does have to sponsor my H1B right away.
Per that, I found the below article, which talks about applying for an EAD under compelling circumstances, but not sure if this is recommended/viable route.
Has anyone tried this / know more about this?
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is providing information for nonimmigrant workers whose employment has terminated, either voluntarily or involuntarily.

I also recently got laid off and looking for this option - Compelling Circumstances EAD. Did you apply for this EAD and did you receive it ?

I don’t have any medical reason.

    1. What evidence to show for Compelling Circumstances? Can it be only Financial loss? Laid off notice, house mortgage, car payments etc.? Can I apply immediately on the last day of being employed or can I apply earlier too since company has informed me and will keep me on payroll for another 3 weeks only ?
    2. How many days/months it took to get the EAD card?
    3. Did you expediate it? If so, how did you expediate it?

I would appreciate any help in this regard.
